California EDD Pauses Unemployment Claims
(Sacramento, CA) — California will not accept new unemployment claims over the next two weeks while the state adopts new fraud prevention technology. Employment Development Department Director Sharon Hilliard made the announcement in response to recommendations from the EDD Strike Team appointed by Newsom in July. During the pause, people filing new claims will be asked to provide contact information, and will be notified by the state to file claims once processing resumes. The pause will not affect payments for people already in the system.
