(Los Angeles, CA) — California is banning the sale of gas-only cars by 2035. It’s the state’s latest move to achieve a zero tailpipe emission goal for new vehicles. Researchers have found carbon emissions from petroleum-based fuels contribute to more than 40-percent of greenhouse gasses. The governor calls his executive order “the most impactful step” in fighting the global climate crisis. Some say the order is identical to a bill that even the super-majority democrat legislature wouldn’t pass. See his tweet:

We’re experiencing a climate CRISIS. Transportation is responsible for over 50% of CA’s greenhouse gas emissions. It’s time to be as bold as the problem is big. Today we announced that by 2035 every new car sold in CA will be an emission free vehicle.
