(New York, NY) — Wall Street is starting the week on a positive note. Stocks closed sharply higher as investors snapped up bank stocks and tech shares continued their rally. Talk of a possible last-minute coronavirus aid deal also boosted market sentiment. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 410 points to 27-584. The S&P 500 rose 53 points to 33-51. And the Nasdaq added 203 points to 11-117.
Shares of Citigroup, Morgan Stanley and Wells Fargo all closed up around three percent or more. Big tech names including Amazon, Apple, Alphabet, Facebook and Microsoft also contributed to the session’s gains. Wall Street was coming off a solid rally on Friday.
