(Los Angeles, CA) — The swarm of earthquakes hitting the Salton Sea-area most likely isn’t posing a threat to Los Angeles. The area near the town of Westmorland, which is about 200 miles from L.A., has experienced hundreds of quakes since Wednesday. Seismologist Dr. Lucy Jones says that site is a known hot spot for the ground shaking. According to Jones, the swarm could trigger a larger earthquake in that area in the coming week, but it won’t have any effect on the San Andreas Fault, which directly impacts L.A.
