(Sacramento, CA) — More Californians are considering moving to other states amid record wildfires, public health orders and the rising cost of living. Scott Fuller, who started the website LeavingtheBayArea.com, says moving was the right move. Fuller relocated his family to Arizona five months ago and now helps others make the same kind of move through his website. He says while it’s too early to tell if a mass exodus is happening in California, he believes the reasons for people leaving have changed over the years. Census data shows more middle- and low-income people have been leaving California since 2018. But the Golden State continues to be a top destination for those moving here from other countries and the population continues to rise due to the birth rate.
Fuller says in the past it was primarily older people looking to stretch out their retirement money, but people are now leaving because of their politics.
