(Tucson, AZ) — There are new reports showing COVID-19 immunity can last for months or even longer. A study at the University of Arizona College of Medicine found people infected by the disease produce protective antibodies for at least five to seven months. People who recovered from severe infections generated a stronger response. Another study out of Massachusetts General Hospital found its severely ill patients produced antibodies lasting four months. The findings suggest COVID-19 vaccines may be able to offer people protection for more than just a few weeks.
