(Sacramento, CA) — Governor Gavin Newsom says California will be receiving disaster relief funds for six recent wildfires after speaking to President Trump over the phone Friday. The governor issued a statement thanking the president for moving quickly on the aid, despite the Trump administration initially denying the request Thursday. Newsom says the money will be used to help people in the impacted counties and repair damage. The wildfires have burned through more than one-point-eight million acres, destroyed more than three-thousand homes and other structures and has killed at least three people.
