(San Francisco, CA) — A small fleet of driverless electric cars will soon be seen on the streets of San Francisco. The DMV approved permits for Cruise to start testing five self-driving Chevy Bolts in late December. They are the fifth company to get approval to operate their vehicles without a safety driver, but the first to use the permit in a large city. Cruise will be restricted to testing their vehicles on certain streets and cannot operate them in rain or during foggy conditions. Dan Ammann, the company’s CEO, says this is their “moonshot” to transform transportation and reduce carbon emissions.
