(Sacramento, CA) — Theme parks and sporting events can now reopen in California in counties that meet the state\’s COVID-19 guidelines. California Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly says ticket sales make it easier to conduct contact tracing at certain events.

Smaller theme parks can reopen at 25 percent capacity in counties in the orange moderate tier, while larger theme parks will be allowed to reopen in counties that are in the yellow minimal tier. Sporting events can also resume with 20 percent capacity when a county is in the orange tier and increase to 25 percent once the county moves into the yellow tier.

Only residents of the same county as the theme park will be permitted when they do reopen.
