On the eve of the 2020 presidential election, major cities across the country are preparing for civil unrest by boarding up windows and placing temporary barriers. Authorities in Washington, D.C. have placed a fence in front of the White House that prevents protests from climbing over. It is the exact type of fencing that was used over the summer after unrest erupted following the death of George Floyd at the hands of a white Minneapolis Police officer.
