(Undated) — The number of people to cast their ballots ahead of Election Day is now over 98-million. The U.S. Elections Project says that represents over 71 percent of the total votes counted in the 2016 election. Most of the early voting has come from mailed-in ballots, but over 35-million have voted in person. Texas and Hawaii have already outdone their total turnout from four years ago. The early voting numbers could also lead to the 2020 turnout breaking the record set in 2016 of 139-million people voting.
