(Washington, DC) — Vice President Mike Pence is reaffirming the Trump administration doesn’t support shutting down the U.S. Speaking at the White House, Pence noted they also don’t support keeping kids out of school. He insisted the CDC has never recommended campuses be closed because of the coronavirus. A recent influx of infections has led some states and local governments to put in new restrictions to slow the spread. That includes going to virtual learning and limiting restaurant capacity.

In an orchestrated press conference Biden insisted- without a any explanation or evidence-  that he will shut down the coronavirus, not the economy. In apparent opposition to his position before the election, he insisted that there will be “no national shutdown.” Vice President-elect Kamala Harris said governors play a critical role and will have a partner in the White House. She stressed that combating the pandemic should be a non-partisan endeavor. The governors group included Democrats and Republicans.
