(Wilmington, DE) — President-elect Joe Biden is nominating a former Federal Reserve chair who could become the first female Treasury secretary. The Biden-Harris transition officially confirmed Janet Yellen will be nominated to serve in the role. Neera Tanden is being nominated as the Office of Management and Budget director. She would be the first woman of color and South Asian American to serve in that position. The incoming administration is tapping Cecilia Rouse to be the Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers. She would be the first African-American to lead the council if confirmed. Meantime, Jared Bernstein was Biden’s former Chief Economist during the Obama Administration. He’s been chosen to serve on the council alongside Rouse.
