(Los Angeles, CA) — Comedian Sarah Silverman is admitting that she was able to get a pass on offensive jokes because she is liberal. On the podcast “SmartLess” Silverman said she recalls making jokes mocking everything from religion to rape throughout her career. For one sketch, she even wore blackface during her 2007 TV show, “The Sarah Silverman Program.” The comedian said the logic behind telling offensive jokes was that she didn’t mean it but because of her political beliefs she could get away with more. Silverman admitted she would never make the same kind of jokes today.
