Several Charged Following Violence In Downtown Portland

(Portland, OR) — Several people are facing charges after demonstrators took to the streets of downtown Portland in protest against President Biden’s inauguration. Around 150 protesters marched to the Democratic Party of Oregon’s Portland headquarters. They allegedly smashed windows, set fires, and spray-painted anarchy signs. Protesters said they were demonstrating against both Biden and law enforcement while supporting the rights of indigenous peoples. Police arrested eight people on various charges.

Three Arrested During Protests Downtown

(Seattle, WA) — At least three people are facing charges after dozens of demonstrators took to the streets of downtown Seattle last night, breaking windows and burning an American flag. The Seattle Times reports about 100 anti-fascist protesters marched through downtown chanting condemnations against both President Biden and former President Trump. The marchers also called for the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. One protester told the Times that watching Biden call for unity during his inauguration speech was insulting to those who had suffered xenophobia. Police say three people were arrested for property damage, burglary and an assault.
