(Los Angeles, CA) — Residents in the wealthier parts of Los Angeles are reportedly swooping up vaccine access codes intended for underprivileged black and Latino communities. According to the L.A. Times, people are taking advantage of the codes offered through California\’s \”My Turn\” vaccination scheduling website. The codes are given to community organizations which then offer them to low-income residents so they can reserve an appointment. The Times says the codes have instead been leaking to wealthier communities and are circulating in group texts among people not yet eligible for the vaccine. Some of these people are reportedly making appointments with the codes and driving to Cal State L.A. to get their shots.
