(Los Angeles, CA) — Tiger Woods is reportedly “awake and responsive” while recovering from surgery. The golf legend was injured in a car accident yesterday morning when his S-U-V went off the road and rolled in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. A rod and screws were inserted in his right leg below the knee to stabilize multiple open fractures in the two main bones in the lower leg. Bones in the 45-year-old’s right foot and ankle were also broken in the crash. An L.A. County Sheriff’s deputy found Woods still strapped into his seatbelt, trapped in the vehicle that was on its side following the accident. Deputy Carlos Gonzales says the seatbelt and other safety features might have saved Woods’ life.
