(Washington, DC) — The stimulus checks the government sent at the end of last year are helping personal income rise. The Commerce Department reported this morning personal income was up ten-percent last month. That’s the biggest gain since April. Congress authorized checks of 600-dollars to most Americans to help with the economic downturn caused by the pandemic. It also approved enhanced unemployment benefits for those who had lost their jobs. Most Americans appeared to spend that money because retail sales surged nearly two-and-a-half percent.
