(Washington, DC) — The Biden administration is cancelling student loan debt for more than 40-thousand borrowers with disabilities. The Department of Education took action after some borrowers with disabilities had their student loan payments reinstated during the coronavirus pandemic. Education Secretary Miguel Cardona says borrowers “should not put their health on the line” to submit earnings information during the COVID-19 emergency. The Department says borrowers will begin to see their loans return to a discharge status in the coming weeks.
