Biden: Infrastructure Project Won’t Come From Increased Gas Tax

By

(Washington, DC) — The White House is not going to be increasing the federal gasoline tax to pay for President Biden’s historic infrastructure project. The topic came up during Jen Psaki’s briefing on Tuesday when she was asked if the President was considering raising the federal gas tax from 18.4 cents per gallon. The press secretary said it was used as an example when talking with Congress on Monday, saying that even a significant increase wouldn’t pay for the project. She said seemingly disingenuously “he does not believe that paying for this historic investment should be on the backs of Americans.” Ed note: With a 2 trillion dollar price tag, who does the White House think is going to pay for this?
