LA Could Keep Restaurants From Automatically Giving Patrons Plastic Utensils

(Los Angeles, CA) — The Los Angeles City Council passed an ordinance that would make disposable foodware only available at a customer’s request. The ordinance, if approved  by the Mayor–and it is expected to be, would prohibit the eateries from having self-service disposable foodware dispensers and keep the businesses from giving it out unless requested. It would go into affect on November 15th for facilities with more than 26 employees, and on April 22, 2022 for all other facilities. Facilities that don’t follow the guidelines could be fined 25 dollars for violations and be charged up to 300 dollars per year. How much will it cost to enforce this ordinance?
