(Atlanta, GA) — A new report suggests a powerful teachers union influenced the CDC school reopening guidelines. Emails published in the “New York Post” show a back-and-forth between top CDC officials and the American Federation of Teachers. In at least two instances, the CDC used the suggestions of the union nearly word-for-word — including the CDC canceling a guideline that allowed for in-school instruction regardless of transmission rates. A professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco told the Post “This is not how science-based guidelines should be put together.”
