(Washington, DC) — Senator Joe Manchin says he won’t vote for the election reform bill passed by the House. On Fox News Sunday, the West Virginia Democrat says he can’t support an 800-page “overhaul” of the American voting system. While he says there are a lot of ideas in the bill he agrees with, he says there is also plenty in there that doesn’t pertain to voting. The moderate Democrat called it the “wrong piece of legislation” and says it will “divide the country further.” Manchin says election reforms and protections must be bipartisan to ensure confidence in the measures.
