(Cambridge, MA) — The FDA is approving the first new Alzheimer’s drug in two decades. Massachusetts-based Biogen makes the drug called Aducanumab . It’s injectable and is supposed to slow cognitive decline in early-stage dementia patients. However, critics say there’s not enough evidence that it actually works. FDA approval is based on Biogen conducting a new clinical trial to fill in the blanks in its research. In the meantime, the drug will be available to Alzheimer’s patients.
