CA Assault Weapons Ban: Predictably, Appointed AG and Newsom Announce Appeal

(San Francisco, CA) — California is appealing a judge’s ruling that the state’s assault weapons ban is unconstitutional. Attorney General Rob Bonta announced in San Francisco today he is asking the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit to put on hold a recent ruling by a district court. Bonta continued his misleading and incorrect narrative, said that comparing firearms to Swiss Army knives has “no basis in law or fact.” California’s ban on assault weapons has been on the books for three decades.
