(Washington, DC) — Four major drug companies are agreeing to pay a combined 26-billion dollars to be released from all legal liability in a settlement agreement. If approved by states and counties, the money would be used to pay for addiction treatment and prevention and other costs associated with the pandemic. The next step is for states and local governments to decide if they will sign on. Doing so means they must drop the thousands of lawsuits against the companies and pledge not to bring any further action. The companies are Cardinal Health, AmerisourceBergen, McKesson and Johnson and Johnson.
