(Central Valley, CA) — Governor Gavin Newsom wants to bring Californians affordable high-speed internet. On Tuesday, Newsom signed a six-billion-dollar bill that will expand broadband infrastructure. The bill will particularly impact under served communities. Speaking in the Central Valley, he said the bill is about providing opportunity, access, and familiarity. It will establish a nine-member council called the “broadband czar” and allow more legislative oversight through the State Department of Technology.
