Recall getting closer, and now ousting Newsom within the margin of error

(Berkeley, CA) — Californians are almost evenly divided on removing Governor Gavin Newsom from office. A new poll released today by the University of California, Berkeley’s Institute of Governmental Studies shows 47-percent of likely voters supporting the recall, while 50-percent want Newsom to remain in office. The three point difference is within the poll’s margin of error. The margin is wider among all registered voters in California, with just 36-percent in favor of the recall and 51-percent opposed. The recall election is set for September 14th with Newsom facing a total of 46 candidates. Conservative Larry Elder leads the list of recall challengers with 18-percent support. Trailing Elder is businessman John Cox and former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, each tied at ten-percent. Reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner registers just three-percent support. Vote is September 14th.
