Study: Premature Birth Chances Increased By Wildfire Smoke Exposure

(Palo Alto, CA) — Being exposed to wildfire smoke can lead to a higher risk of a premature birth. That’s according to researchers at Stanford University. They found up to seven-thousand births between 2007 and 2012 could be traced back to being exposed to wildfire smoke. Things were especially bad in 2008. That’s when more than six-percent of premature births may have had wildfire smoke as a factor.
