NASA Tracking Giant Asteroid Approaching Earth’s Orbit

(Washington, DC) — NASA is keeping an eye on a massive asteroid barreling toward the Earth’s orbit. It’s about three times larger than the Statue of Liberty with a diameter between 300 and 900 feet. An asteroid that size could cause significant damage if it hit the planet. However, the asteroid called 2021 NY1 is expected to pass over 930-thousand miles shy of Earth later this month. NASA is keeping track of 24 asteroids near the Earth’s orbit and only one of those is expected to pass between the Moon and the Earth.
