Newsom, Buttigieg Announce $5B In Loans To Fix Clogged CA Ports

(Sacramento, CA) — Governor Gavin Newsom and U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg [[ BOOT-edge-edge ]] are joining forces to improve conditions at Southern California seaports. The pair are moving to put five-billion dollars in federal loans towards modernizing ports throughout the state. The money won’t help unclog congestion, but Newsom and Buttigieg claim modernized ports as well as truck and rail systems that serve them can prevent logistics nightmares in the future. What exactly the five billion would be spent on is unclear. The State Transportation Agency listed possibilities such as port upgrades, more freight rail capacity, increased warehouse storage, truck and rail electrification and highway upgrades.
