Uber is being sued by the Department of Justice after allegedly charging disabled passengers extra “wait time” fees. The Justice Department said in a statement that Uber first began violating the Americans with Disabilities Act in 2016 by charging those fees in target markets, but now does it nationwide. Unspecified damages are being sought for people “subjected to illegal wait time fees,” with the Justice Department also asking the court to order Uber to modify its policies.
