(New York, NY) — Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights, begins at sundown tonight. It’s a joyous holiday that commemorates religious freedom won by a tiny band of Jews, the Maccabees, more than two-thousand years ago when the Syrian-Greeks tried to suppress Judaism. The Maccabees recaptured the Temple, which was a miracle, and so was the one day supply of holy oil that burned in the Temple menorah for eight days. It gave Jews an eight day Festival of Lights
