LA Sheriff’s Official Say Five Detained After L-A Cop Killed

(Los Angeles, CA) — Five people are detained, but not yet arrested, in connection with the killing of a Los Angeles police officer. The LA County Sheriff’s Department says three men and two women are being questioned. Twenty-seven-year-old officer Fernando Arroyos was killed Monday night while off-duty near South LA. The three-year veteran of the force was killed in an exchange of gunfire during a robbery attempt. Sheriff’s officials are investigating the incident because the unincorporated neighborhood falls in their jurisdiction.

Reports: Suspects In Custody After LAPD Cop Killed

(Los Angeles, CA) – Multiple outlets report that the Los Angeles Police Department now has several suspects in custody in connection to an officer’s killing. He was shot Monday night while off-duty in South LA. 27-year-old Fernando Arroyos, a three-year veteran of the L-A-P-D, was killed during an apparent botched robbery. Some reports say one of the suspects was shot and wounded during the incident. There’s been an intense manhunt since the shooting.

An off-duty LAPD officer is dead after getting shot during an apparent robbery attempt in South LA last night. Chief Michel Moore is now identifying the officer as 27-year-old Fernando Arroyos, a three-year veteran of the department’s Olympic Division. The chief is determined to catch the killer.

“I have every faith and confidence that we’ll identify the person or persons responsible for this terrible attack and this grievous loss.”

Police say the officer and his girlfriend were approached by three men, at least two of whom were carrying guns. After a gunfire exchange, they fled in a black pickup. Moore wants the public’s help in identifying the shooter or shooters so they can be brought to justice.
