Robert Kennedy Assassin Sirhan Sirhan Denied Parole

(Sacramento, CA) — California Gov. Gavin Newsom is denying parole for Sen. Robert F. Kennedy’s assassin. Sirhan Sirhan was found fit for parole in August by a two-person panel, with the California Parole Board given 120 days to review. Newsom then had another 30 days to approve, modify or deny the decision. Newsom wrote that Sirhan’s assassination of Kennedy in 1968 is among “the most notorious crimes” in American history. He said that he has failed to address the “deficiencies” that led him to assassinate Kennedy, even after decades in prison. Sirhan has now sought parole 16 times.
