We can confirm, Shawn Laval Smith, the suspect responsible for the murder of Brianna Kupfer is in custody, after being located and detained by Pasadena PD around 11:50am this morning in the area of Fair Oaks and Colorado Blvd.
We would like to thank the public, the media and our partners at Pasadena PD for their support in apprehending the suspect.
Police ID Brianna Kupfer Murder Suspect
(Los Angeles, CA) — Police in Los Angeles are identifying the man they say brutally murdered a UCLA student while she was at work. The LAPD says Shawn Laval Smith stabbed Brianna Kupfer to death at a high-end furniture last week. Smith is considered armed and dangerous and has a lengthy criminal rap sheet. The identification of Smith came shortly after they offered a 250-thousand-dollar reward for information leading the capture of a suspect.

(Los Angeles, CA) — Police say they are pulling out every stop to find a suspect after a UCLA student was brutally murdered at work. LAPD Chief of Police Michel Moore said the investigation started the minute Brianna Kupfer was killed.
Kupfer was stabbed to death while working at a luxury furniture store in Los Angeles last week. The unknown male suspect walked in the Croft House, stabbed her and then fled through the back door. The suspect is believed to be homeless, based on his attire and that he was carrying a backpack, but the motive remains unknown as police continue to search for him. They have offered a $250,000 reward for information leading to his capture.

Brianna Kupfer’s father Todd said he wants his daughter to be remembered as “caring loving and devoted family member” and said “everybody needs to love each other more.” Brianna was stabbed to death while working at a luxury furniture store in Los Angeles last week. The unknown male suspect walked in the Croft House, stabbed her and then fled through the back door. The suspect is believed to be homeless, but the motive remains unknown as police continue to search for the suspect.
