A homeless woman who appeared to be having a mental breakdown Wednesday, attempted to steal a 9-month-old baby from the child’s grandmother on the Venice Beach boardwalk.
Katy Gross is the mother of little Gilda and daughter of the grandmother who was attacked. She called the attack her “worst nightmare.” Gross says the homeless woman then grabbed her mother’s coffee and three it in her face hitting her and the baby. The LAPD arrested the woman and charged her with assault, but Gross went on to say while the community needs to be protected, she also wants the transient to get the mental help she needs.
It was announced this week that an effort to recall Councilman Mike Bonin, on who’s watch the crime and homelessness have increased, and quality of life has declined, has not collected enough signatures to force a vote.
