Dallas-born rock star Meat Loaf, a Grammy winner and one of the best-selling artists of all time, has died. The legendary singer’s family posted an announcement on his official Facebook that he died Thursday night at age 74. The artist born Marvin Lee Aday in 1947 moved from the Lone Star State to Los Angeles in 1965 and pursued careers in music and acting. He opened for major touring artists including the Grateful Dead and The Who. He exploded onto the pop music scene in 1977 with the release of his album “Bat Out of Hell,” which included the smash hit single “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad.”

“Bat Out of Hell” sold over 43-million copies worldwide and he sold more than 80-million total albums over the course of his career. Meat Loaf had a successful run as an actor as well, appearing in movies including “Fight Club” and “Wayne’s World.”
