LA, Ventura gun shop closures unconstitutional

By

/

A federal court says an order that closed gun stores in L-A County in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic was unconstitutional. In its ruling, a three-judge panel on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals says that both L-A and Ventura counties violated the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms when they shut down gun and ammunition shops in March 2020. At the time, they were labeled as nonessential businesses as the pandemic began. This decision reverses a lower court ruling. Not clear if it will be appealed.
