Hey Ambassador Garcetti: Sacramento Tows RVs And Cars Owned By Homeless People

By

(Sacramento, CA) — The City of Sacramento is towing 13 vehicles in a sweep of a homeless encampment. On Wednesday, the action took place on Evergreen Street and Arden Way in North Sacramento. Lorraine Ramirez who lives in an RV said towing vehicles is “making it worse” for homeless people. City Councilman Sean Loloee represents the area where the towing happened said he was never notified of the sweep and didn’t think the vehicles should be moved. Homeless advocates complain the city’s ambitious safe parking lot program isn’t opening sites fast enough, and parking code enforcement actions just continue to criminalize homelessness.
