(San Francisco, CA) — PG&E is planning to underground 175-miles of power lines this year. The utility says its 2022 Wildfire Mitigation Plan — which could be called the ‘Actually-providing-dependable-reliable-power-to-the-paying-customers’ Plan calls for the continued undergrounding of power lines in high-risk areas. The long-term plan is to target up to 36-hundred miles of power lines by 2026. PG&E is also looking to improve on the duration and scale of its Public Safety Power Shutoffs. This includes adding more weather stations, advanced forecasting technology, and a more precise system to sectionalize power shutoffs to targeted areas.
