The COVID- Diabetes Link

(St. Louis, MO) — A new study links COVID infections and an increased risk of diabetes. Researchers at the Veterans Affairs Saint Louis Health Care System looked at data from more than 180-thousand COVID patients treated by the VA from March 2020 through September 2021. When compared to other patients treated during the same time frame, the COVID patients were more likely to develop Type 2 diabetes by 46-percent. They believe these findings mean about 800-thousand people in the country are at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.
