House COVID Chair Jim Clyburn Declares Pandemic No Longer A “Crisis”

(Washington, DC) — The COVID pandemic is no longer a “crisis” in the United States. So says South Carolina Democrat James Clyburn, the chairman of the House select subcommittee on coronavirus.
At a hearing on the Biden administration’s progress in combating the pandemic, the CDC Director discussed next steps. Rochelle Walensky mentioned President Biden’s budget for the 2023 fiscal year, which includes investments in public health and the CDC to support “domestic and global pandemic preparedness.” She also said the CDC had increased its ability to identify emerging variants and was committed to improving “data-sharing capabilities.” Walensky after recently updating guidance to allow some to get an additional booster shot. CDC Director Rochelle Walensky says the focus on vaccinations must continue.
