U.S. Reportedly Left $7B Worth Of Military Equipment In Afghanistan After Withdrawal
(Undated) — A new report says the U.S. left billions of dollars worth of military equipment in Afghanistan when troops pulled out of the country last year. CNN reports the total is about seven billion dollars worth of equipment, and that number comes from a new report from the Pentagon. The report added the Defense Department doesn’t have plans to return to the country to “retrieve or destroy” the equipment. Among the equipment left behind are aircraft, air-to-ground munitions, military vehicles, weapons, and communications equipment. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have criticized the execution of the withdrawal from Afghanistan, and Congress had mandated the Defense Department issue this report, which is dated March of 2022.
