(Washington, DC) — A new report says the wealthiest Americans aren’t having their taxes audited as much as in the past. The Government Accountability Office says that number fell to just over two-percent in 2019. It was sitting at over 16-percent in 2010. IRS staff and funding shortages are being blamed. The agency’s budget in the 2021 fiscal year was just under 12-billion dollars. However, that’s a drop of 200 million from 2010.
