Biden Touts New Executive Order On Police Reform

(Washington, DC) — President Biden is touting a new executive order on national police reform. Speaking at the White House, Biden said the order aims to police “accountability”. The President marked the second anniversary of the death of George Floyd. He was an unarmed Black man who died in police custody in Minneapolis. Since Floyd’s death, bipartisan efforts to craft national police reform legislation have fallen short in Congress, failing in September of last year as Democrats bailed on a legislated solution. Vice President Harris said Republicans “walked away” from negotiations–apparently forgetting that it was Democrats who walked away from negotiations on real, legislated police reform last year.
