IRS Making Progress On Tax Return Backlog
(Washington, DC) — The IRS says it’s making progress on the backlog of unprocessed tax returns. However, the agency reports millions remain. As of June 10th, around 11-million individual returns are still unprocessed. Budget cuts, understaffing, and office closures brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic are to blame. The IRS Commissioner said the backlog should be cleared up by the end of the year.
