(Sacramento, CA) — Thousands of gun owners and advocates are blaming California’s top law enforcement officer for allowing their personal information to be exposed. Gun advocacy groups are voicing their concerns over the recent California DOJ data breach that disclosed names, birth dates, driver’s license numbers and other information of all people who were granted or denied a concealed carry permit between 2011 and 2021. Executive Director of Gun Owners of California Sam Paredes is calling for Attorney General Rob Bonta’s resignation, accusing Bonta of being incapable of controlling his agency. Paredes along with other gun owners and advocacy groups want whoever was responsible for the data breach to be held accountable. The DOJ is conducting an investigation into the breach.
