(Washington, DC) — A growing number of Democrats are questioning the strategy in some states to meddle in Republican primaries. The idea is to promote certain GOP candidates who may give Democrats a better chance of winning general elections in November. Congressman Ritchie Torres called it “embarrassingly hypocritical” on ABC’s This Week. The New York Democrat said Democrats “cannot credibly defend democracy and then prop-up candidates who are an existential threat to the very democracy that we’re defending.” He warned that being too “cute and clever” can backfire.
