(Washington, DC) — President Biden is going back to an old, failed project as he is again pledging to cure cancer. It was in his State of the Union speech in 2016- 6 years ago -that President Obama put Biden in charge of curing cancer. Newsweek reports : “Last year, Vice President Biden said that with a new moonshot, America can cure cancer,” Obama said, before noting that Biden has worked with Congress to add resources for the National Institutes of Health. “Tonight, I’m announcing a new national effort to get it done. And because he’s gone to the mat for all of us, on so many issues over the past forty years, I’m putting Joe in charge of Mission Control.”. Biden traveled to the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston on the 60th anniversary of JFK’s famous “Moonshot” speech. Biden made a renewed pledge to lead a “Cancer Moonshot” program during his tenure and said it’s time to “end cancer as we know it.” Biden’s oldest son Beau lost a long battle against cancer in 2015.
